The 2025 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is more than just a cycling event for me—it’s a deeply personal mission. In 2012, my mom passed away from glioblastoma multiforme, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Losing her was devastating, and it left a profound mark on my life. The PMC allows me to honor her memory while supporting the incredible work being done to combat cancer, a disease that touches far too many lives.
The PMC is a beacon of hope and perseverance. Since its founding in 1980, it has grown into the largest single-event fundraiser in the United States, raising more than $1 billion for cancer research and treatment. What makes the PMC so impactful is its commitment to ensuring that every penny raised goes directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These funds are helping to fuel groundbreaking research, pioneer new treatments, and provide compassionate care to patients and their families.
My goal this year is to raise $4,000—a number that represents not just a fundraising target but a testament to my commitment to this cause. When I ride, I’ll be carrying my mom’s memory with me, along with the stories of countless others who have faced the challenges of cancer. I’m riding for the patients currently in treatment, for the families supporting them, and for the researchers striving to make new breakthroughs.
Every mile I pedal is a step closer to a world without cancer. The PMC is not just about raising money; it’s about coming together as a community to make a tangible difference. It’s about hope, resilience, and the belief that we can overcome even the greatest challenges when we unite for a common cause.
I invite you to join me on this journey by contributing to my fundraising efforts. Whether it’s $5 or $500, your support makes a difference. Together, we can continue to bring hope to those who need it most and honor the memories of those we’ve lost.
Thank you for being part of this story with me. Your generosity fuels not only my ride but also the hope for a brighter, cancer-free future.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Mike Callino
