I ride to feel the wind, push harder than I think is possible, and experience freedom. And I use that desire to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Every year cancer robs us of more than 600,000 of our friends, colleagues, and family members in the US alone. We all have been touched by, and felt the effects of, this cruel and indiscriminate disease. Cancer got real again this year for too many of us. My team's pedal partner, 8 year old Declan, underwent multiple surgeries to remove the tumor in his brain and end his seizures. It hasn't worked yet. So I ride. And earlier this year, I learned that yet another friend was diagnosed. So I ride. For my Mom, my 4yr old niece Miranda, my friends Anthony Ministeri, Caroline Conway and for your friends and family that have been touched by this disease. I ride. A lot. After receiving a 3-to-6 month prognosis my stepmom Jane went to the Dana Farber for help. Under the direction of Dr. Benjamin Schlechter and his team she has regained her health and is doing so well, she is taking the summer off from chemo. Now 5 years later, Jane enjoys her time at the lake and with family and friends. Her life, and mine, is dramatically different now because of the Dana-Farber. Let's make more of these stories. The Dana-Farber is an extraordinary group. Their researchers have contributed to 35 of the 75 cancer drugs most recently approved by the FDA. Together we can make a difference. You and your contributions MATTER, regardless of the amount, it all (yes 100%!) goes directly to funding research and patient programs Thank you for coming here, thank you for supporting this effort, and most importantly, thank you for caring.
