Cancer is a terrible thing that has likely touched all of us in some way, whether it be someone we know, a friend, or a family member- inevitably, if it hasn’t yet, it will impact all of our lives in some way. When someone you love is diagnosed with cancer, it feels like your life just got instantly turned upside down. You feel helpless and there is nothing in that moment you can do to solve it. One can only have hope, a strong attitude, and a will to do anything you can to help.
In 2018, my family got some of the worst news we could; my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer- a cancer for which there is no cure, and the outlook is rough. For a year, she gave it everything she could, fighting it with every ounce of her body, until she lost her battle in the spring of 2019. The world lost an amazing person that day. The trauma of watching her go through and experience this is something that will live in me forever- I ride so that someday we will find a cure, and no family will have to go through this struggle.
Each year that I ride, I ride in memory of my mom as well as everyone else that is fighting their battle. Please consider donating to my ride to help me raise funds to move the needle on cancer research.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
