Dear friends -
This will be my 17th Pan Mass Challenge. This year, I will be riding a 50 mile loop with my son Jacob. I will be riding for Team More Cowbell. Funds raised by this team are directed towards research performed by Dr. Toni Choueiri, the Director of the Kidney Cancer Center at Dana Farber. This cause has become very important to our family. For the sixth year in a row, I will also be riding in honor of Tami Eagle Bowling. Tami is fighting invasive ducal carcinoma via pill and has had no evidence of disease since starting treatment. I also ride in honor of those people in my life who fight cancer privately. I ride because I see progress and because I want to make a difference. I plan to ride or volunteer at Pan Mass until there is a cure.
Every year, the ride is more meaningful to me. 100% of rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund. Since 1980, the Pan Mass Challenge has raised $900 million for Dana Farber. This year's event will bring total fundraising to over One Billion! The event draws 5,500 cyclists and raises more money for charity than any other athletic fundraising event in the country.
Please let me know if you would like to join us or if you want to make some noise along the route on Pan Mass weekend.
