Why I Ride ...
I am a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. Most people unfortunately know someone who died of cancer. Dana Farber works to change that statistic.
The PMC is not just about raising money for Dana Farber. It is a special time in our lives that we only get one chance to experience every year while our friends and family are alive. I am driven to be the best I can be for this cause. I ride PMC for a friend and for the Dr McGregor research fund at Dana Farber. Because I believe that someday they will find the cure for a wide variety of cancers besides renal cell carcinoma.
This is my first year riding the PMC Wellesley 100 mile Century as a proud part of the PMC Ocean State Cancer Crushers. We lost friend and teammate Chris Spear unexpectedly on February 28th, 2024. Chris and I rode many miles together over the last year. Chris reassured everyone as a cancer survivor PMC living proof rider to remain optimistic as new cancer treatment options come out faster than they ever have in the past.
I was convinced by Shawn Fagan to ride from Sturbridge this year and we would attempt a fast ride to finish it first together. Just for fun and for notoriety to help fundraising. Chris finished PMC routes first a couple times over his 35 year period. This year ill be riding In honor of Chris's first PMC ride back in 1989 when PMC crossed its first $1Million to this historic year of 2024 $1Billion to Dana Farber. I know Chris will be watching over us and we look forward to seeing our friends when we arrive at MMA. For those that knew Chris I am grateful to have known such a wonderful person and supporter of the PMC.
Our team fundraising in 2024 will exceed $300K in year 3.
Thank you for helping me contribute to the greatest cause to beat cancer in the world.
