Hi Everyone!
Thank you for visiting my PMC fundraising page.
As a first-time rider last year, I had no idea what I was getting into. To be honest, I was having MAJOR regrets the week leading up to the race. I was nervous and scared I wouldn't finish. But every mile, every minute was special beyond belief. Riding alongside thousands of riders, cheerleaders, and survivors was moving. So much so, I finished the race with no doubt in my mind I would be doing it again. I signed up for PMC 2020 thrilled to graduate to a "year-two-rider" - I even recruited a few new mates!
Then COVID-19 happened. Then the muder of George Floyd, and the long overdue confrontation with our nation's systemic racism and the vital BLM movement.
Then my best-friend was hospitalized with a tumor the size of a grapefruit. Verdict? Cancer.
Last year I learned that nearly everyone knows or has lost someone dear to cancer. I didn't question it, but it didn't quite register. I guess you don't really understand until it happens to you, or a loved one.
So while the news of my childhood best friend felt like a horrifying betrayal, I was humbled. A silver lining - a reminder that the fight never stops. This is an ugly disease, one that we must fight together.
We must keep on. Every dollar counts. Please join me in the fight against cancer. We have to keep fighting
xx KP
