This year I will be riding in my 12th PMC !
Covid-19 has certainly wreaked havoc on all of our lives. Sadly I lost two dear friends to the virus. The PMC is no exception to the wrath of Covid-19 and has been “reimagined” for 2020.
I will ride 163 miles in 2020 to support the PMC/DFCI. Our reimagined ride will take place in the week leading up to PMC and will include long rides on PMC weekend (August 1 and 2). I will post updates and pictures of our 163 PMC reimagined 2020 journey.
I will carry the names of our loved ones, both in honor and in memory, on my helmet on the ride so PLEASE get me the names of anyone you would like me to remember ASAP as the reimagined ride is now less than a month away!
“Cassie kicks cancer’s ass” is the 2020 theme in honor of my friend Eric Pearson’s 22 year old daughter who was diagnosed in February with Lymphoma and has been battling side effects and infection, often hospitalized alone and without visitors. Cancer sucks. Covid-19 sucks too.
I will also honor my buddy Z currently battling kidney cancer during a pandemic and unfortunately he lost a kidney in a sledding accident as a kid so it is kind of complicated…
Last but certainly not least I will honor ARHS girls hoop coach Trevor Gagnier (he coached Tim JV boys hoop and Stevie Varsity Lax). He is a great guy, an awesome coach and a loving husband and father of four who recently underwent surgery to remove a grade 4 brain tumor resulting from Glioblastoma.
As always I will ride for Julie and Katie.
You think you have problems and then you see these wonderful people with big problems….
Obviously cancer doesn’t pause for Covid-19, so we won’t either!
We certainly understand that the economic upheaval from the virus has effected almost everyone. So while we are asking for your support only if and as much as you can.
Our 11 year fundraising total is approaching $100,000 so let’s keep it going!
Remember I will continue the tradition of carrying the names of our loved ones and friends on my helmet on the ride both in tribute and in memory. Please provide me with the names of any of your friends or loved ones who you would like to be remembered on this year’s ride. Even if we have carried your loved one’s name in the past, please remind me if you would like them to be remembered again this year to make sure that nobody is inadvertently left out. Whether you are able to donate to the PMC or not, I would be proud and honored to carry the names of your loved ones and friends with me on the ride.
Please, if you can, help us support the Pan-Mass Challenge and the great work it does to fund research and provide comfort to families battling cancer. Please know that 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to supporting cancer research.
I would like to remind you that Mapfre/Commerce Insurance offers a 5% discount on auto insurance premiums for existing and new customers who support PMC riders with a donation of at least $25.00. Please take advantage of that discount if you can!
If you donate by check, simply make one check payable to “PMC” and mail it to me at Wynn & Wynn, P.C., 90 New State Highway, Raynham, MA 02767. I can take care of the rest. If you donate by credit card go to www.pmc.org, and hit the “donate now” button. Enter my Rider ID, “KO0062, and make your donation.
