Year 2 woohoo! I am back and excited to ride in the Pan Mass Challenge on August 3rd & 4th, 2024 after an incredibly inspiring 160+ mile ride in 2023. The PMC is an annual bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country, leading a relentless charge to beat cancer. Cancer does not discriminate - it is nearly impossible to find someone who has not been affected by cancer in some way, whether directly, or through family and friends, colleagues or acquaintances. 100% of rider-raised revenue during the PMC fundrasing goes directly to the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure, and I am very proud to be part of this mission.
I'm honored to be riding with Team Duncan for my second year, raising funds to directly support cancer research. PMC 2024 will be special for many reasons…It’s the 5th anniversary of Team Duncan, the 25th anniversary of Team WOW/Duncan, and the PMC plans to cross the $1 billion milestone this year: the PMC has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since 1980, positioned to cross a monumental $1 billion in cumulative fundraising for Dana-Farber in 2024.
Team Duncan (formerly team WOW) was started back in 1999, and was changed to 'Team Duncan' in 2019 in honor and memory of Duncan Finigan who was a beautiful wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and colleague diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in October 2014. She rode the PMC for four years and lived every day to its fullest until she lost her courageous battle in May 2019. Duncan was a strong and passionate advocate of breast cancer awareness and research who began Project Pink at her former company OOFOS, a recovery footwear company. OOFOS has donated $4M to Dana Farber Cancer Institute from the Project Pink donations. Team Duncan now consists of over 100 riders, including Duncan's family, friends, and team OOFOS, and has raised more than $8M over the past 25 years. I am lucky to have been recruited to Team Duncan by my friend Tori, one of Duncan's nieces!
I also ride in honor and memory of my Grandmother, Mary (Meme), who was a breast cancer survivor and lived many long, healthy years after her mastectomy. I ride to support our Pedal Partner, Norma-Rose, an 11 year old who was diagnosed with Pineoblastoma at age 7 and is currently going through a new clinical trial affiliated with Dana-Farber. I ride to allow more families to hear more good news and get more good years. I ride to provide more access to the life-saving research that Dana-Farber and other cancer institutes are spearheading. I ride in memory of Duncan, friends, and family, and all those who have lost their battles against cancer. I ride for those currently in the fight, and for those who have beat cancer. I ride to make a difference, and for a future with more cancer survivors.
Team Duncan's fundraising goal is $1M this year, and it would be deeply appreciated if you would consider donating below - no amount is too small and every dollar counts!! Thank you very, very much.
