Why I Ride ...How can I not?
Dear Friends and Family,
It's been a long time since I last reached out. Life takes its twists and turns and this year has had its fair share. As I mentioned in my previous email, I will not be riding the PMC with the group on PMC weekend, but will be here in Washington. Thankfully I still have plenty of time to train for my PMC Virtual ride at the end of August as I'm nowhere near ready today! As many of you know....and more likely many of you do not..my mom was diagnosed with an aggressive Lymphoma, treatable and curable
, and is currently going through treatment as we speak. She is half way through her treatment and is doing amazingly well! Without going into too many details, I can honestly tell you that my whole family believes we have been incredibly lucky in that she was diagnosed quickly, started treatment immediately and has an incredible doctor.
I continue to ride in honor of my dear friend Michelle Sloan, but as you can imagine, my mother's diagnosis gives yet another reason to keep on pedaling strong and raising the funds that help provide the much needed resources to help us find a cure for all cancers, not just some....As well, I continue to ride for Janie & Eddie Weiner, Jack Zakarian, Steve Bean Levy and both my maternal Grandmother and paternal Grandfather. Your battles fought, always courageous and a source of inspiration to me. This year brought the loss of a neighbor and a new diagnosis for a cousin. With respect to privacy, I will hold off on names.
I hope you will join me in support of the PMC / Dana Farber Cancer Institute by helping me raise the money that continues to help so many fight this awful disease. Since 2013, you have helped me raise $81,520. Let's see if we can make it an even $88,000 this year! Once again, I will be riding with the amazing Lungstrong Team and 100% of all funds raised will go to the Lowe Center of Thoracic Oncology at Dana Farber!
Thanks Millions!
Jodi
