Why I Ride ...
I am riding in my 7th PMC, in honor of my father, my mother and everyone who has been impacted by cancer.
This year, I plan to add the unofficial day 0 to the PMC weekend. Pushing off on Friday morning at the NY/MA state line and riding 100 miles to Sturbridge where I will join other riders to start the official PMC weekend on Satruday morning. the goal is to ride 300 miles over 3 days.
In June of 2018, my dad was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma and shortly after, received a stem cell transplent from Dana Farber Cancer Institute. In October of 2020, my mom was also diagnosed with Lymphoma and completed her radiation at New England Cancer Specialists, a Dana Farber affiliate. I can now say that both of my parents have a clean bill of health thanks to the amazing care, treatment and support of the Dana Farber network.
Domestique: In road bicycle racing, a domestique is a rider who works for the benefit of his or her team and leader, rather than trying to win the race...Where the domestique finishes a race is less important than the help he or she gives.
