April 2025
Hello friends,
It is now April, the weather is beginning to improve and 3 months ago I signed up for my 22nd Pan Mass Challenge. Once again I'll be riding the 2 day, 170 mile route from Wellesley to Provincetown. Last year the PMC raised $70M which was donated to the Dana Faber in support of cancer research. The goal this year is $76M. Everyone who has supported me during these past 21 years has played a part in this and Glenda & I thank you for your continued support.
Most of you know why I ride.The1st year was for the challenge but a few months later I lost my mother to cancer and in 2018 my brother passed away after surviving cancer that he was diagnosed with when he was 13. He was put straight onto a drug trial as there was no cure for his type of cancer. Because of ongoing research and development he was in remission for most of his life and lived for another 46 years. He is in one of the pictures below - the one with the brightly colored shirts.
I'm riding with the same group of friends who I've ridden with for most of my PMC's. In 2019 Team 3G was formed to support the husband of one of these friends, who was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. In five years, the team has raised $2.3M and while the bulk of the funds raised go The Lowe Center for Thoracic oncology at the Dana Faber, funds have been given to support brain, lymphoma, ovarian and melanoma studies and clinical trials.
Survival rates have improved tremendously and continue to improve, but cancer is still with us.
So once again I'm asking for your support.
Thanks,
John
