Thank You for Supporting My PMC Fundraising!
After hearing about the Pan-Mass Challenge roughly 20 years ago a former colleague of mine said we should do that and raise some money for a good cause, and I agreed. Nothing came of it. We never got motivated enough to commit, train, fundraise and do it. For the past 20 years each summer my wife and I would hear about the wonderful event and all the money they raised, and my wife would tease me that I never had the courage to do it. Meanwhile we, much like millions of families across the country, have felt the effects that cancer has on families far too close to mention over the years.
So when my current colleagues at Blackdog Builders started discussing doing it this year as a team, my motivation to be part of the Pan-Mass Challenge was multi-faceted; rooted in a desire to support cancer research, honor the memory of loved ones lost to the disease, and be part of a movement that believes in the potential of individuals to come together for a greater cause, I also wanted one less thing for my wife to hang over my head for the rest of our lives.
Cancer's far-reaching impact knows no boundaries, affecting individuals, families, and communities. By participating in the PMC, I felt a deep sense of purpose and the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing battle against this formidable adversary. The countless residents lining up along the route in their front yards and intersections prove that The Pan-Mass Challenge, beyond being a physical feat, is a testament to the strength of community bonds.
Joining as a Blackdog Builders team for the PMC amplifies the impact, both in terms of fundraising and camaraderie. Being part of a team means not only sharing the physical challenges but also building bonds that transcend the event itself. The sense of camaraderie is palpable as participants ride alongside cancer survivors, caregivers, and supporters, all bound by a shared commitment to progress. It's a poignant reminder that the fight against cancer requires the collective will of individuals from all walks of life.
Upon completing the PMC for the first time, fatigue was eclipsed by a profound sense of accomplishment. But it was the realization that our efforts were contributing to something far greater that truly resonated. The funds raised through the PMC fuel groundbreaking research, patient care, and programs that alleviate the burdens of cancer on patients and their families.
The event's ability to raise substantial funds for cancer research and support services while fostering a sense of unity is a testament to the power of collective action. Participating in the PMC has reminded me of the impact individuals can make when they work together toward a common goal. It has shown me that by dedicating our time, energy, and resources, we can create a positive impact that extends far beyond our individual efforts. The Pan-Mass Challenge isn't just an event; it's a movement that unites hearts, strengthens communities, and brings us one pedal closer to a cancer-free world.
Thank you for contributing to my Pan-Mass Challenge fundraising efforts!
Your support carried me through the long hours of training and the demanding miles of the PMC ride on Sunday
TOGETHER, you and I have raised $6,565 toward what people are forecasting that Team Blackdog should raise close to $70,000, and the PMC will raise more than $70 million collectively in 2023.
As a reminder, 100 percent of your donation and all rider-raised funds will go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest contributor thanks to riders, volunteers, partners, and donors like you. Since 1980, the PMC has raised over $900 million for Dana-Farber.
