Hello friends and family,
It’s that time of year again…
But this one’s a little different. After undergoing knee surgery in January, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to ride this summer. Thanks to many PT sessions and even more ice packs, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be back in the saddle for my 7th year riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC)!
For those of you unfamiliar, the PMC is an annual bike-a-thon across Massachusetts that brings together thousands of riders, all raising funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in our shared mission to find a cure for cancer.
This year, I’m proud to ride with Team PopSciCycles — a team my parents created a few years ago after riding in the PMC themselves for over two decades. We ride to support the McGraw/Patterson Division for Population Sciences at Dana-Farber. This division not only leads impactful cancer research, but it also holds deep personal significance for our family, as it honors my grandfather, who played a key role in its founding and growth. This year, I’m riding for:
-
Maureen McLaughlin
-
My dear friend, Curt
-
My cousin Nick
-
Our team’s inspiring Pedal Partner, Ellie Levine
-
Sharon Gallagher
-
My neighbors, Barbara and Patti
-
And for everyone who continues to fight — or has fought — cancer
Thank you so much for considering a donation to my ride. Every dollar brings us one step closer to a cure.
With love and gratitude,
Julia
