Dear Friends and Family April 27, 2022
I thought this year I would make my letter more colorful!! I hope you all had a good winter. Weather wasn’t too bad either. It wasn’t too great for skiing but I still got in a good 30 days. Some skiing for fun and some fun days of teaching.
It is that time of year again for me to begin my training for my 16th PMC ride this year. I considered riding only one day this year, as I am getting more mature ??, but as I was sitting there recovering from my two minor broken bones from a skiing event - not accident ??- I decided to do the two days. It has been couple of years since we were able to have a normal PMC event and I am really looking forward to it this year. I will be starting at Babson College in Wellesley on Saturday and finishing in Provincetown on Sunday. The event is on August 6 & 7 and I will be riding 165 miles over the two days.
I am enjoying retirement. Last summer I started playing golf and plan to play again this year. Never thought I would play golf! I play with a group of women and we have a blast. We all have same attitude of just having fun and hopefully getting better.
Although I am not working anymore, I still think about all the folks I have cared for and all the folks who are being newly diagnosed. Knowing that they are receiving great care at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
I think of my Teams’s pedal partner Reina, who as a teenager has had to remain in quarantine for several months after receiving a bone marrow transplant.
I think of a friend’s grandson who has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and is undergoing chemotherapy. He is only 12 yrs old.
I ride for those who are battling cancer and for their families and friends. I ride for the survivors and those who have not survived.
In the 15 years that I have been riding, I have raised $179,917. My goal is to someday reach a goal of $200,000. It would be great to get there this year.
I continue to ride with Team Perry whose funds support oncology fellows and their research. As I have stated before, since I first started caring for cancer patients and riding I have seen incredible progress in treatments and survival of cancer patients. But people are still being diagnosed and needing our help.
I love the notes you all send updating me on how your all are doing and your words of support. Keep them coming. No donation is too small. Donations can be mailed in the return self addressed envelope or by going to PMC.ORG click on donate, and type in my name.
Thanks is advance for your donation and positive thoughts.
I hope you all have a great spring and summer. I will let you all know how the ride goes after I complete it. As always pray for nice riding weather and keep the rain away. ??
Thanks again
