WHAT AN AMAZING YEAR!. Kyle just entered her 5th year post brain cancer diagnosis. Without a clinical trial funded through PMC donations, NONE of this would be possible. Kyle went from a diagnosis measured in months to live to one that is blessed with health and wonder. Her story is so miraculous that she has been the subject of interviews by The Washington Post, MIT, WBZ TV, and WCVB TV. Her clinical trial results have been published in numerous medical journals. All of this proves these simple statement:s thePMC saves lives. ThePMC changes lives. The PMC provides HOPE. While all the medical breakthroughs and novel treatments and cures funded through PMC donations are miraculous, it is thegift of hope that may be the best and purest form of treatment that cancer patients and families need.
This year, I will again have the privilege of riding with my sons, James and William. It is and always will be the greatest achievement of my life. This PMC and this Team is shaping up to be the most meaningful of all of them as our team has expanded to include 9 riders in their 20s. We will again be joined by Jay and Christian Willett, who will ride again to honor their dad, John, for whom Team WillPower was created. Jay and Christian, their mom, Amy and the entire Willett family have been with Team WillPower for every mile pedaled since its inception. Our family could not have traversed cancer's journey without their continued love and support. We are also honored to ride with one of James and Christain’s classmates, James Lawlor, who will be riding to honor and support his dad, Peter, who is successfully battling lymphoma. The other young riders joining our team include Chatham Eldredge, Caroline Crowley, Natalie Bronfin, and Andrew Fitzgerald. Having all of these amazing young riders join our team is what makes this team family and is the legacy that makes the PMC the truly special event that it is.
Last year marked a truly amazing milestone for both the PMC and TeamWillpower. The PMC passed the $1 Billioncareer fundraising threshold - with every penny going to research and medical treatment provided through Dana Farber. TeamWillpower eclipsed the $1.0 Millionfundraising milestone. WOW!!!! None of this, not a penny, is possible without individual donors like all of us. PMC fundraising is comprised of hundreds of thousands of individual donors - donors like each of us. While we all pursue countless worthwhile charitable endeavors, it is natural to wonder whether our contributions are truly making a difference in the lives of those we seek to help. The answer is YES, absolutely YES. Your contributions matter immensely for all cancer patients in general, and Kyle specifically. Your donations are life altering and lifesaving.
EVERY. DOLLAR. MATTERS. Every donor is a HERO!
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for being a HEROto our family and to all cancer families and for helping the life-saving advancement of cancer research and treatment.
Jim, Kyle, James and William
