This will be my 8th PMC, my 7th year running the PMC Kids Rides program and will be my first year leading Volunteer Operations - WOW time goes by fast. It has been an incredible experience working for the PMC and I have been so fortunate to meet so many wonderful riders, volunteers, sponsors, and donors. While everyone has their own story on how they became involved in the PMC, everyone is involved for the same reason - to raise money to find a cure for cancer.
For those who don’t know, the PMC puts on an annual bike-a-thon the first weekend in August every year that goes across Massachusetts to raise money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in Boston. To date the PMC has given over $717 MILLION to DFCI for cancer research.
This year we are not able to have a phsyical event because of COVID-19, so we have asked riders and volunteers to Reimagine PMC 2020. For more information go to pmc.org/reimagined. We have a lot of fun things instore! :)
My PMC Story:
I became involved with the PMC through working at Cape Cod Sea Camp, cheering on riders at Da'Hedge. I have however known about the PMC for a while as my late cousin Leslie Semonian was very active in both volunteering and riding before passing away of Ewing Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. As cancer knows no boundaries, I have had many loved ones pass away from cancer - both of my grandparents, Harry Ahmadjian and Richard and Armon Darmanian, and two of my uncles, Bob Semonian and Keith Wild.
Please consider donating to help find a cure for cancer, a disease in which so many people are affected by on a daily basis. The PMC gives 100% of it's rider raised donations to Dana-Farber so your donation goes a long way. We would not be where we are without the support of wonderful donors like you, (6,800+) riders, and (4,000+) volunteers...so thank you!
