This year will be my 11th PMC and raising money for cancer research and treatment is just as important as ever. It continues to impact those around us and I myself have lost family and close friends to cancer, which makes the work that the PMC and Dana-Farber are doing that much more important.
For those who don’t know, the PMC puts on an annual bike-a-thon the first weekend in August every year that goes across Massachusetts to raise money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in Boston. To date the PMC has given over $900 MILLION to DFCI for cancer research! Our goal this year is $70 million.
My PMC Story:
I became involved with the PMC through working at Cape Cod Sea Camp, cheering on riders at Da'Hedge. I have however known about the PMC for a while as my late cousin Leslie Semonian was very active in both volunteering and riding before passing away of Ewing Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. As cancer knows no boundaries, I have had many loved ones pass away from cancer - both of my grandparents, Harry Ahmadjian and Richard and Armon Darmanian, two of my uncles, Bob Semonian, Keith Wild and my dear friend Alison Fracassa (pictured here in my profile picture).
Please consider donating to help find a cure for cancer, a disease in which so many people are affected by on a daily basis. The PMC gives 100% of it's rider raised donations to Dana-Farber so your donation goes a long way. We would not be where we are without the support of wonderful donors like you, (6,500+) riders, and (3,200+) volunteers...so thank you!
