Why I Ride ...
I am riding again this year with Team BBS, who ride for Kayur Shah, my friend and coworker who passed away in 2019, to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. In September 2023, I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) and I am a patient at Dana Farber's Center for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Last year I rode 72 miles on day two, Bourne to Provincetown, and this year I am riding both days, August 2nd and 3rd, Sturbridge to Bourne to Provicetown (172 miles- yikes!). I am riding in memory of my brother in law, Eddie White, who passed away in 2024. Eddie joked that his cancer was Double-IPA and mine was Busch Light. I know that if our situations were reversed, Eddie would be the first person to ride the PMC for me. I am also riding in memory of my mother-in-law Kathy Fewer and my aunt Mary Caloia.
I hope to raise money to fund research to support the treatment and cure for cancer. Dana Farber is an international leader in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia research and treatment. I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
