My PMC journey began with the Team Samantha bike rides for Dana-Farber, where I rode for years as a kid to support the Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Program. These rides have always been personal, but this year, they feel even more special as my husband Josh joins the team for the first time! Every year, our team grows, and we continue to ride not only for Sammi and her family but for all those affected by brain tumors.
My family has known Sammi and her family since before she was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 3. I’ve been involved in Team Samantha’s rides since childhood, riding alongside cousins and classmates to raise funds for the cause. If you're interested in learning more, Sammi's TedX talk is incredible. It’s something that’s always been close to my heart. As I’ve gotten older, it felt natural to transition into the PMC to help raise even more money and ride even further. I’m proud to say that after several years of riding, I’ve made a personal commitment to return every year to support this cause.
Sadly, the need for research is more personal than ever. One of my childhood best friends was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor (oligodendroglioma) at age 25. It’s tough to see the people I care about face this challenge, but their resilience inspires me every day. I ride so that Sammi, my friend, and others can keep chasing their dreams and living their lives without the burden of cancer.
This summer, as part of my training for the PMC, I’m taking on a major challenge: a triathlon whose bike portion covers 90 miles from the coast of Maine to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. I’d love for you to cheer me on as I prepare for it! You can track me on Strava.
The PMC is one of the largest charitable events in the country, having raised over $1 billion for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since 1980. In 2024 alone, the event raised $75 million. 100% of your donation goes directly to Dana-Farber, where it helps fund the groundbreaking research that is making a real difference in the fight against cancer.
No contribution is too small—every dollar brings us closer to finding a cure.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your generosity means the world.
I’m hoping you’ll support my ride! I’ve committed to raising $6,000 for cancer research by riding in the 2022 Pan Mass Challenge. On the first weekend in August (exactly 2 years after our wedding) I will join thousands of cyclists in the PMC, an annual bike-a-thon that raises money for research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in Boston.
I hope I can count on your support!!
With love,
Jackie
