Ride #10!!! Riding into double digits!!!
Crazy to think that as I am beginning the starts of my 10th ride with the Pan Mass Challenge, a pandemice is still happening with hopefullt an end in sight, vaccinatiosn are out in full force and cnacers still remains amongst us in countless forms with so many people battling it on a daily basis. Just like hte psat 9 years each year's ride brings more and more memories including adding a virtual ride to the mix of it all. As well as having the ride in 2021 starting to look more like pre-pandemic rides, RMC 2022 is going to be a ride to remember, at least since pre-pandemic. And the mission as to why I continue to rides is to hopefully be riding and seeing a cure that cures not just one form of cancer but all forms, so we can live in a cancer free world.
Each year I'm always asking myself why do I ride and each year it always remains the same to ride for those who can't and are currently fighting this awful fight, while riding for those who have beat it and in memory of those who are no longer here. This year I am riding in the 2022 PMC in remembering my cousin Ericka, who lost her battle to brain cancer at the young age of 7, as well as Jane and her husband Kevin, both having lost their battle to lung cancer and were long time friends of my mom. Also in memory of Corrinne, who I had been partnered up with for 2 years as my pedel partner with the PMC. As well as for Skye Plaisted, a bright and adorable 6 year old, as well as my teams Pedal Partner, who is currently in remission against cancer. Lastly, I will be riding the miles in honor of a good friend and former manager, Michelle, who is a colan cancer survivor, and two close family friends Donna & Mary who are both breast cancer survivors.
Going into PMC 2022, this will be my third year riding with an AMAZING team the Patriots Platelet Pedalars team where all funds raised go to Dr. Ken Anderson at Dana Farber and his research to help fight Multiple Myeloma as well helping those that have been diagnosed with this form and other forms of cancer.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
