In 2013, my father, a high school teacher from Charlton, MA, rode the Pan Mass Challenge. He dedicated the 2-day 192-mile cycling ride to his student, Seshu, who was fighting cancer. Although Seshu eventually lost his battle, that summer, my best friends and I won an appreciation for giving back. Inspired by the dedication and kindness of PMC riders, volunteers, and their families, we started The Daughters of Anarchy, a local philanthropy effort to support Dana-Farber, the Jimmy Fund, and other cancer-fighting initiatives across Massachusetts.
The PMC community showed us how to use athleticism to help others. This year, I am riding for my favorite athletic trainer from Pomfret School, Miss J, who has always inspired and supported me in whatever I do. I couldn't have made it through high school without her, and I admire her humor, knowledge, and care for all her athletes. She inspires me to take on new challenges fearlessly, and I feel so lucky to have her in my life.
Please consider supporting my PMC Ride! All proceeds directly support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Thank you so much, and together, we are #closerbythemile.
