Why am I so passionate about the PMC and riding for the 10th time? Because I am a 14-year two-time cancer survivor. I know first-hand the value the PMC brings where 100% OF EVERY DOLLAR donated goes to funding cancer research. This annual bike-a-thon event raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country and is the single largest contributor to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. That research has generated cutting edge technology and new ways to battle cancer that gives people like me hope. And that hope is not just selfish hope I have for myself and my continued success against this relenting disease. It’s hope that the more and more people who get this terrible diagnosis, have an easier battle than I did with more advanced technologies becoming available every day. And, it’s the ultimate hope that someday we have a cure, if not for all cancers, but those that are becoming more prevalent in everyday life, especially breast cancer. Which, as the parent of an amazing 8.5-year-old daughter, is why I ride because my hope is she never has to experience what I have had to.
