Back at it again. I have committed to riding the PMC this August with Team Thanks. As many of you know, my dad, my poppio, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer this past fall. In th midst of his battle, 10 chemo treatments in, he has committed to riding his 11th PMC this August. When I heard that he was planning to ride his cancer fighting machine the 192 miles from Sturbridge to PTown this August, there was no hesitation. I knew I needed to be on my bike beside him through his recovery and through the hills of Bourne. If he can commit, we can all figure it out.
The journey my family has been through since my dad's symptoms began, all of began while he was completing his tenth PMC last August, has been eye opening, heart wrenching, and uplifting.
It has opened my eyes to the reality of the fight that so many have fought. As much as I thought I understood what cancer means for a family, I had no idea. The strength that my mom and dad have been able to muster has been absolutely inspiring. And the incredible importance and impact of the PMC has become crystal clear. I knew it was important in 2016 and 2018. But now I have a different insight on the battle that too many have fought. This year, I ride for my dad. And I ride for everyone that has been touched by this awful disease. We all need to fight the fight together.
Here's to the 2020 PMC. I can't wait to finish beside my dad, my brother, and my incredible team.
