Why I Ride:
2019 marks my 50th year alive and 10th year “NED.” We’re thriving through breast cancer and my 8th year riding the PMC!!!
I’m a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, 100% of rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s tireless commitment to finding a cure. These research and clinical institutes are working hard on better treatments, cures, and for advancement of medical knowledge about cancer throughout the world. We are proud supporters of this charity, mainly for the uniqueness that 100% of donations fight cancer. My family and I will fund raise, train, commit our family time and money, and do our best to make the financial goals. In order to do this successfully, we need a team. You see, raising $7,000 or more dollars takes a group effort. Please join us in making this group effort to beat cancer down achievable! Thank you !!!!!!!!
I've made a personal commitment to ride and I hope you can help me achieve this significant goal. My route is Sturbridge to ProvinceTown (200 miles) and this is my 8th year riding.

Our story is simple….I guess:
Hi, we are the Boston Uteggs…..and welcome to our new personal fund raising page….
We are family who has been touched by adversity and cancer and WE ARE FIGHTING BACK!
Disability:
In 2001, I was almost killed by a drunk driver. I fought my way back to life and now I am a disabled, but VERY MUCH ALIVE recumbent cyclist (Bacchetta c.a.). Cycling helped me get my life back. I enjoy it and it makes me healthier, happier and hopefully a better person.
Cancer:
Then in 2009, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer….Surgery, chemo, radiation and a NEW BEGINNING……….That’s right, another challenge, but I had support, love and the strength of my family, friends and the cancer community.
LIFE:
The outpouring of support was and still is inspirational. I had exceptional medical care through Mass General Hospital, and Newton-Wellesley Hemotology/Oncology. These treatment centers are part of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and have direct benefit from THE PAN MASS CHALLENGE. Everyone deserves great care, cutting edge treatments and positive outcomes. Given that, I am cycling the PMC, for me, others and future generations.
I am simply trying to contribute to research, a cure for cancer and to help people through their journey. The PMC is an amazing physical, mental and financial challenge. I am already training and am preparing myself for those first two elements. I cycle, strength, and cross train so I am physically ready for this worthwhile charity.
Where I am in my journey:
I am 10 years cancer free October 5th and count every day as a blessing….Cancer is scary, crappy, hurts people and has taken too many of our family and friends. So, we do the only thing we can…We MOVE ON, LIVE LIFE, and enjoy TIME! Through my cancer journey, I found that one of my favorite activities (besides talking hahhaha) is cycling….and I do A LOT of it…It makes me happier, healthier and is a chance for me and our family to make a difference in the war on cancer.
The Pan Mass Challenge is going to be a major milestone for me. It will be 200 miles in 2 days (that’s a lot). I am also riding a recumbent bike (my Bacchetta c.a), as I am not only a cancer survivor, I am a survivor of a life threatening, yet disabling motor vehicle accident.
I have taken on more and more challenges and grow with each pedal stroke…..So please donate and help me “Be the change that I would like to see in this world….”
