I will be riding in the 2024 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) for the fourth time, Sat Aug 3 - Sun Aug 4. This year however is very special for me, in that my lovely and fit daughter Abby Stathis will join me for her first PMC ride! Abby and I will join a group of riders and bike a total of 162 miles over the two days across MA, starting from Wellesley and ending in Provincetown.
The PMC is a fundraising bike-a-thon started more than 40 years ago, and raises more money than any other single athletic fundraiser in the country. 100% of every rider-raised dollar goes to support the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research.
Last year, the PMC ride raised $72 million ... and going back to 1980, the cumulative amount raised and donated to the Dana-Farber is $972 million. For 2024, we intend to raise $75 million and cross well over $1 billion cumulatively. You can learn more here: https://www.pmc.org/
Abby and I will be riding as part of the Domestiques which is a team of ~20 riders organized and led by my friend Justin Unger. Check out the video of Justin’s father David telling his story, what Dana-Farber has done for him: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/kxrofodj1hj0wl094uc1v/PMC-David-30-1.mp4?dl=0&rlkey=q7fvpdpwhphf8cvdzvgq2w1r1
Since 2019, the Domestiques have raised over $765,000 for Dana-Farber. This year, our team goal is to raise $150,000. Here is a link to our PMC team page: https://profile.pmc.org/TD0198
My personal fundraising goal this year is $15,000 - and I appreciate any contribution you can make to help find a cure. Here is a link to my personal PMC page with photos of me and Abby, also other friends and training partners: https://profile.pmc.org/GS0207
Every donation brings us closer by the mile.
Thank you as always for your support!!
