Why I Ride ...
Sadly, I lost my mother to cancer four years ago. An incredible woman who brought joy to so many. I hold her memory close. And I ride for her. And it's this particular event that honors her; the way it truly makes a difference in the fight against cancer. And I'm very proud to be part of the PMC.
Last year was my first ride with the PMC. Fifty plus miles with my fellow team Bergmeyer riders. A long day but incredibly rewarding. This year, the team has regrouped targeting 80 miles this time around. Training began in April, making great progress. Then May came and abruptly put an end to my PMC aspirations. On a training ride I crashed and broke my thumb and tore tendons requiring surgery that will take the better part of the summer (and beyond) to recover. Fortunately, doctors have cleared me to start riding again. Unfortunately, I won't be in any shape to do the team ride. That said, I do intend to ride the day of the event and put in as many miles as I can manage, ideally surpassing last years distance. That's my commintment to the PMC.
In return, I ask for your generosity to help with this great organization. Any support is appreciated and impactful. And I'm deeply thankful to all of you.
Very best,
