When I first started riding in the PMC in 2015, I hadn't really realized why I was riding, I just knew it was for a good cause. Though, over the years a lot has developed around me, opening my eyes to how cancer affected the world. My grandmother Annette Garcia had already fought and defeated cancer years ago, which was the first stepping stone for me. Then came my Step-fathers mom Joan Dube, who I know dearly, has been battling leukemia for nearly 7 years. Luckily she is winning the fight currently. The most recent battle to affect my family was my step siblings mom Jennifer Desjardins who was overcome suddenly with an aggressive and incurable form of cancer that took her life in March of 2019 at the young age of 46. Others around me, not just in my family, are battling cancer as well. A family friend who graduated High School in 2016 was told she was cancer free in 2018! These wins amongst those I know personnally are just a small part of what the PMC is striving to help fund research for cures. Locally and across the country, the money raised by this fundraiser that i ride for is saving lives, giving people hope, giving people a second chance. So that is why I ride. Riding gives more people, including my family, a second chance in life.
