Thanks for visiting my page. I am once again participating in this years Pan Mass Challenge, a 186 mile fundraising bike ride to honor the life of my friend John. He was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia in January 2023 and waged a hard fought battle that unfortunately ended 9 months later on October 14, 2023. I figured the best way to honor him and the courageous fight he waged was to take on this challenge.
If you didn't know John then you missed out on knowing a great human being!!! He was well liked by everyone he crossed paths with always asking your name, where you were from, what you did for work, how you enjoyed your free time, he was truly interested in other people and what their story was. One time before he was sick we were chatting and the subject of life came up and he said if he passed tomorrow he would do so knowing he experienced more in his life than most people will in two lifetimes and boy was he right, he squeezed alot into his time with us. The only bad thing about John's life was it was to short!!! Most people noticed his hilarious dry sense of humor but because he was so humble you'd never know he was actually a real life rocket scientist having worked on many NASA missions including the Mars Rover projects. When one of the Rovers landed on Mars it dropped a plaque on the planet's surface with John's name and others who had been responsible for the success of the mission... there's not many people who could say their name is on Mars, this feat along with other famous missions he worked on earned him the nickname of Johnny Rocket. Being the son of Polish immigrant parents he was fluent in both English and Polish... This kid mastered everything he attempted all the while being a great person to all he crossed paths with. It is easy to see how John turned out to be such an amazing human being: his family! The apple didn't fall from the tree as John has the most loving famiy who still miss him every day... honoring John is the reason for this challenge but it's also to honor his amazing family who are so supportive and with me every step / pedal of this Pan Mass journey. This fundraising ride would be nearly impossible without their support, everytime i visit them I truly feel like I am with him.
Fundraising is the most important aspect of Pan Mass as it raises critical funds to find a cure to stop this awful disease. Last year with everyone's generous support we raised over $8,000, this years goal is $11,000 which I am certain we will reach with your continued support. PMC has raised over one billion since 1980 and $75 million in 2024 alone, What makes the Pan Mass different is 100 percent of your donation goes directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, there are no other fundraisers in the world that raise as much money and give it ALL to the charity!!!
I've made a personal commitment to ride PMC 2025 to honor John and raise money for Dana Farber. I hope you can join me on this great journey and while it will be difficult it pales in comparison to the battle that John fought!!! You can donate right here online directly from this profile page.
