Dear Family and Friends,
I was not sure I would be able to ride the Pan Mass Challenge this year. Then, I saw that Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the incredible place where Mitch received incomparable care for his Glioblastoma, is at risk to lose millions of dollars due to cuts to NIH funding. So I've now signed up to cycle the 85 miles from Wellesley to Cape Cod this August 2nd.
As a recent PMC posting noted,
Imagine if it were you, or your family, being told that funding for your clinical trial or treatment was now frozen, or worse, cut. The PMC has provided hope and funding for 45 years. We need to assure Dana-Farber – and the administration in Washington – that this pursuit is a national priority.
If we are ever to be supportive of Dana-Farber's mission, it is this year. Dr. Patrick Wen, Mitch's oncologist, is fighting to find ways to cure the scourge of Glioblastoma, that took Mitch - and so many other of our loved ones - from us in the prime of their lives. Without funding provided through PMC, effective therapy for Glioblastoma may never be discovered. Please help by donating whatever you can. We are all counting on you.
Thank you in advance.
With love,
Betsy
