Cancer has touched all of our lives, and it hit close to home for me when my friend, classmate, and coleague - Ted Preston - was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2018. What I enjoyed most about spending time with Ted was his unique combination of a relaxed approach to life coupled with a sharp sense what really mattered, whether he was talking about business, surf casting, or fun with family. Ted was an old soul who always had something wise to contribute to any probelm or discussion. I miss spending time with him and still find it hard to fathom how quickly he went from a full, happy and healthy life to passing away within 8 months of his diagnosis.
This year was my first Pan Mass Challenge and felt very lucky to be part of the Ted's Unicorns team with Ted's wife Beth, his son Jack and daughters Sarah and mmm. Also on the team were my good friends Tony Chang and Curt Large. The 160 mile ride from Wellesley to Provincetown was the longest I've ever done, but it was more fun than I expected and awe inspiring to be with thousand of other riders and volunteers dedicated to giving their time, energy and money to beat cancer. The biggest surprise we had was arriving at the bike parking lot before sunrise on Day 2 and seeing that our bikes were the last to leave.
I'm hoping you can donate to my effort to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure for pancreatic cancer and all other forms of this terrible disease.
