To my family, friends, and loyal supporters,

I am asking you to donate generously to a very special 192 mile REIMAGINED RIDE doing this Summer, 2020.

As we try to continually try to understand the strange, bewildering, worrisome, and sad conditions under which we are living at this time, cancer patients remain fighting their fight and must not be forgotten amidst this crisis. In fact, as can be imagined, treatment for cancer patients has been impacted making daily life even more challenging.

First, I want to reiterate my gratitude to you for supporting my cycling efforts in honor and memory of my brother Randy for the American Lung Association over the past thirteen years and my first PMC last year. I have been so incredibly fortunate to have been physically able to accomplish these feats summer and fall and use them to help those in need.

Second, since last July 2018, I have been doing a lot of cycling, at increasingly new levels, which has not only led me to new personal achievements but has also opened a new set of friendships and a new community of like-minded and generous, kind people. Through a school friend and colleague Steve, I was warmly invited into a special family of cyclists called Team Kermit, which was founded in 2005 by Steve when his 23 year old son Jared (a Thayer grad) died from a rare form of brain/spinal cancer. Steve and his family started riding in the two day, 192 mile Pan Mass Challenge, 100% of whose proceeds go to Boston's Dana Farber Cancer Institute, specifically the Sunflowers For Life Fund, whose mission is to address rare forms of pediatric cancers.

Associated with Team Kermit is a now 14 year old Pedal Partner Declan and now (unrelated) Declan the younger, 3, (Watch this! fully - 3 mins) who are directly impacted by Team Kermit funds, which are directed to research in pediatric brain/spinal cancer. Declan teh elder has survived of the same class of cancer that tragically took Jared, when no such treatment was yet available.

Third, while I remain fully committed to the ALA ride each autumn and an ALA stair climb each winter, I have expanded my efforts, both in riding and fundraising, to include the PMC. I will be very direct with you. I have received FULL support from my sister-in-law Corinne, nieces Emily and Sarah, my parents, and my brother David, all on behalf of Randy, to shift my major fundraising efforts to supporting the effort to eradicate juvenile cancer through Dana Farber.

My goal is aggressive. But so, unfortunately, is cancer. And we need to stay ahead of it in order to save people from dying too young. I will ride aggressively and have to train aggressively in order to get the job done. In fact, I've been training all winter to be able to handle the upcoming challenge, one I reached for the first time last summer and far greater than any previous cycling challenge.

Please take this ride with me and donate as generously and aggressively as you can, given the circumstances. You will help make a difference.
