I'm Living Proof of the importance of supporting the PMC. In fact, 100% of rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure. My Mom and I are riding together and working hard to raise $12000 jointly. My minimum to raise is $4000 and my Mom's is $6000. A donation to either of us, is a donation to both of us. Thank you. My connection with cancer was originally through myself and later through my grandfather and my dog that was my Make-a-Wish gift. I was first diagnosed on father's day of 2006 with an ATRT Brain tumor. I spent most of the next year and a half mostly living at the hospital enduring a chemo and radiation protocol that included what my parents refer to as all the heavy hitters of chemo. Due to after effects of the radiation I have significant hearing lose and wear hearing aids; and as a result of my tumor and treatment my left side is weaker than my right. (When I first tried to swim after treatment, my entire left side stopped working in the water - my brain had figured out how to work on land, but not how to process the sensations in the water.)
In more recent years cancer struck twice in the space of a few months, in my grandfather and my pet dog, who was my Make-A-Wish gift from when I was sick. They unfortunately both passed away just months apart from each other in 2019. I ride from them and so many others.
