I met Francesca Beans Kaczynski in 2020 though her dad's Twitter page. Andrew had been sharing updates on Beans' diagnosis and his family's move to Boston for treatment. Already signed up for the Pan-Mass Challenge's Winter Cycle, I reached out to Beans' parents and asked if I could ride in her honor. They said yes and she became my motivation to participate in PMC events.
Sadly, on Christmas Eve of 2020, Francesca Beans Kaczynski passed away at 9 months old from a rare and aggressive brain tumor called Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT). Since then, incredibly generous individuals have donated over $3 million to the Team Beans Infant Brain Tumor Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute / Boston Children's Hospital.
I am honored, once again, to ride for Beans and the countless other children and families affected by pediatric brain cancer. Through the 2023 PMC, I hope to help bring continued funding and awareness to the research and care of this disease. Please consider a donation of any amount in her memory, 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to the Team Beans Fund.
Thank you for your support!
