On July 2, 2024 I lost my mom, Vivian Lombardi after several months of illness. She was a 14 year volunteer at the Dighton-Rehoboth lunch stop. She was an avid supporter of the PMC and loved her riders! Since the passing of my sister Robin in 2003 from Melanoma we had both made a commitment to support cancer research at Dana Farber through the PMC ride.
I have struggled with the loss of my mom and various injuries and it has made it hard for me to complete my training. This is disappointing, but I still remain determined to support Dana-Farber.
Last month a very special person of mine received a serious cancer diagnosis. I will "ride" this year as a "virtual rider" in her honor.
Though Robin lost her battle with cancer, I have followed my passion which led me to my purpose to make a commitment to fight cancer by supporting Dana-Farber. Each year. There are so many who hear those dreadful words,"you have cancer" each day. This is a way I can help to make a difference.
Though I may not be able to be on the road this summer, I will be crushing cancer on my Peloton in segmentsto again raise support for one of the premier cancer research centers in the world.
Over the last 15 years my donors have raised over $91,000! In 2024 PMCers raised an incredible $75 Million Dollars to support Dana-Farber. This record-breaking year brings the PMC's total raised since 1980 to an outstanding $1.047 Billion in support of lifesaving cancer research and patient care. On August 2nd and 3rd 10,000 cyclists and volunteers will participate in the 46th Pan-Mass Challenge through 32 towns in Massachusetts, to benefit Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Please support me by donating 100% of, remembering that every rider raised dollar goes directly to Dana Farber to find a cure for someone you know that is fighting cancer!
