Why I Ride ...
This year, I'm riding for my family, partners and co-workers. Eleven years ago in June, I lost my Aunts Ceci and Gloria to ovarian cancer. I loved them both, but there was more to it than the afffection we all feel for our family. They were two of my favorite people in the world, without exception. You know those rare folks who lead rich, interesting lives and in doing so make your life all the more interesting and rich? Remarkably, Ceci and Gloria were both like that. I still miss them deeply.
I'm also riding for my partners and co-workers at Mirick O'Connell. We've had a tough run in recent years with cancer hitting our firm family much too close to home. I'll spin the pedals this year honoring those we've lost and for those still battling each day.
PS. You may recall that last year I rode especially for Christina, our now-10-year old pedal partner for my PMC team, Team Dassault. I'm delighted to say Christina is doing great. Her recent scans showed no tumors and she is off chemotherapy! We continue to ride to honor the strength and bravery of this very special little girl.
