On August 2nd & 3rd of 2024 I will be riding in my 16th Pan-Mass Challenge. I will be riding the two day ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown. When I first started this journey, I road in memory of my father-in-law, Richard Boryk, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who died in 6 weeks from pancreatic cancer. Each year the list of people I know touched by this dreaded disease gets longer and longer. In the fall of 2017, my sister Debbie Kirrane Dailey underwent treatment for breast cancer at the Dana Farber. I'm happy to report that she is doing well 6 1/2 years later. This year my brother Kevin was diagnosed with Leukemia and luckily is responding well to his treatment. So I ride in honor to my siblings. I ride in memory of my daughter-in-law's friend Ashley Rollins, who passed away six years ago from cancer. I ride in memory of Diana Boryk my wife's cousin who was diagnosed with breasts cancer and succumbed to the disease shortly thereafter. I ride in memory of my friend and neighbor Gary, who died at age 44 of melanoma. I am also riding in support of Linda , the sister of our closest friend who has been diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer. Many of their battles were lost, but I feel by riding in the PMC, I can make a difference for others. Each year this weekend becomes the most meaningful of the year.
