Dear Friends and Family,

With PMC 2024 just a more than 2 months away, I am grateful for the strength, health, and opportunity to ride again in an event to raise funds to find cures for cancer. This enemy continues to threaten the health and lives of those we love. I am also grateful for you who have partnered with me in this effort. I ride with one hope and goal in mind. That is, to prevent others from experiencing the painful struggle and loss my family and I endured as cancer stole my 7-year-old daughter in 2005. Despite Erika’s resilience and strength in her battle against a treatment resistant brain tumor, this Thanksgiving will mark the 18th anniversary of her death. Though it has been so long since I held her in my arms, memories of the sparkle in her eyes and joy in her spicy, animated spirit remind me of the reason I continue this fight.

In past PMC letters, I have shared life situations that lend credence to the necessity to raise funds for this cause. This year is no different in my circle of family and friends. I am certain this is also the case for many who read this. Though cures and advances in treatment, including immunotherapy use in some cancers giving great hope and more safe and targeted therapy, there is still so much more work to do in improving therapy and saving the lives of those we love.
