In Memory of Paul "PJ" Hartley
I have been supporting the cutting-edge cancer research at Dana Farber since 2013 by fundraising through the annual Pan Mass Challenge Bike Ride Event. This year I will be riding 85 miles from Wellesley to Bourne in memory of my good friend and Ocean State Cancer Crusher founder, Paul PJ Hartley. This loving husband and father of two young daughters lost his battle with Stage 4 kidney cancer after a long and courageous battle. I have never seen anyone fight with such determination against this beast called cancer. PJ never gave up hope that he could beat it. Even more impressive is that PJ participated in the 50-Mile Bikes Fight Cancer Ride, the 100-Mile PMC Ride and the 164-Mile PMC Ride, all while receiving treatments. The hundreds of training miles we rode together touring the Ocean State on our bikes are the memories that I will cherish the most.
I will continue to ride in memory of my Mom (breast cancer,) my sister-in-law Pam (non-Hodgins lymphoma,) my Uncle Paul (leukemia,) and TOO MANY other people who have been diagnosed with cancer. I am so grateful that my own cancer was curable, so I will continue to support the amazing doctors and scientists at Dana Farber so that we may some day live in world without cancer.
Will you support me in my goal of raising $5,000 for cancer research so that all cancers are curable?
