Hey there Friends and Family,
The summer is always my favorite time of the year; spending time at the beach, hanging out with my friends, and of course getting my ass in the saddle of my bike and spending hours at a time out on the road. As I am preparing to line up for my seventh (!!) Pan Mass Challenge, I have found that I am spending less time thinking about the miles I have ahead of me, and more time reflecting on what has kept me coming back for six years in a row now.
The Pan Mass is an incredibly special event. Back in 2013, on my first ride, one woman explained to me what motivated her to ride year after year, and her words have stuck with me since. “The PMC is probably going to be the only time in your life that you will be surrounded by 10,000 other truly good people,” she said. That struck a chord with me. Every single rider, volunteer or event staff you will meet along the way is there for one reason, and one reason only: to kick cancer’s ass. The motivations always vary greatly. Sometimes it takes a sick family member or friend to get someone involved, other times someone might even be a cancer survivor themselves. Yet at the end of the day, everyone pushes through the hours of fundraising, the early morning training rides and the agonizing hills with the same vision in mind - a world where cancer is a thing of the past.
Every donation helps doctors and researchers at Dana Farber Cancer Institute make progress and discoveries on a daily basis. It would mean the world to me if you were to donate to my ride, and join me in fighting for a world without cancer.
See you out on the roads,
Dan Epstein
