Why I Ride ...
For many years I have ridden my bicycle nearly 200 miles in two days to raise money for cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston. It is a hopeful, uplifting event. Hundreds of cancer survivers ride and volunteer every year. The ride demonstrates how far we have come in managing this disease. I'm an example of that progress. I was successfully treated for prostate cancer nine years ago. But I'll be riding with a heavy heart the first weekend in August. I lost my dear friend Daryl Libow to lung cancer in November. He was an incredibly special guy who I miss every day. So I'm riding in his memory.
Many of you have contributed generously to this effort in the past. I’m on a team that has collected over a million dollars for the Jimmy Fund. The PMC is a very efficient charity. This year riders plan to raise $60 million with 100% of dollars raised donated to the hospital.
A few years ago, my sons Alexander and Michael joined my PMC team. Nothing makes me happier than riding with them.
I hope you will give as generously as possible to my ride. Thanks in advance for your support.
