Why I Ride ...
Dear Family and Friends,
This will be my seventh consecutive year riding to raise money for cancer research. Our group had an excellent ride last year and we are excited to hit the road again this upcoming August.
The PMC is a bicycle ride across the state of Massachusetts and is the single largest fundraising event for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, located here in Boston. The PMC donates 100% of every dollar raised from its 6,000+ riders directly to Dana-Farber, making the ride the cancer institute’s largest single contributor. The PMC raised $72 million for Dana-Farber last year and over $970 million over its 40+ year history (this year will surely push over the $1B mark - amazing!).
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and received care at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York to fight and overcome the disease. My mom inspires me because she continues to give tremendous effort to those around her impacted by cancer. I ride in memory of my mom’s first cousin Patty who was a patient here at Dana-Farber, fighting against cancer for seven years before the terrible disease took her life in September 2018. She spoke so highly of the whole team at the institute, from the people at the front desk, to the nurses, to the doctors - she said it is the best customer service organization in the world. The quality of care in the fight against cancer is incredibly important in the survival rates of diagnosed patients. I ride in honor of my Aunt Karen, who has bravely battled melanoma and lung cancer.
I realize there are various worthy causes you may donate to throughout the year, I assure you any amount you donate would be greatly appreciated. I am riding in honor of my mom, bubbie Eunice, Aunt Karen, dear friend Andrew Kantor, Aunt JoAnne, and Grandpa Floyd, and in memory of my cousin Patty and Grandpa Milt, who have all been affected by cancer - I'd greatly appreciate your support in helping to kick cancer's ass!
You can donate directly at https://profile.pmc.org/DC0415.
Thank you for the support!
