I am incredibly excited to tell you that on Aug. 3, 2025, I will be part of a three-generation Smith family PMC team! My mom, age 86, will be coming out of retirement from her 17-year PMC riding career and will be joining me (also coming out of PMC retirement) and Nathaniel on the 25 mile Babson to Gillette route. Nathaniel and I will then do the second 25 together for a total of 50. And if my mom is up for it, she will do the 50 too - that will be a game-day decision! I am a bit nervous about this because I typically ride 20-25 miles (as does my mom), but I am fired up to do this!!
Since its founding in 1980, PMC riders have raised more than $1 billion for lifesaving cancer research, treatment and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the country's top cancer care hospitals. My PMC is making a difference in the lives of patients at Dana-Farber and around the world. A few years ago, I found out I had melanoma, and luckily it was stage zero and in situ, with clean margins at surgery, so I am most grateful it was caught early, but others are not so lucky.
100 percent of every dollar I raise goes directly to Dana-Farber, meaning that your donation has a real impact! In addition, possible NIH funding cuts could impact Dana-Farber significantly, so the DF needs our support now more than ever. Please donate to my PMC fundraising and help me reach my fundraising goal of $1500. I am volunteering on Friday, so my amount is a bit lower than the $2000 for this route. I am incredibly grateful for any amount, and I will be sure to let you know how it goes post-ride!
I also want to thank so many of you for supporting Nathaniel in the past years, and he will once again be utilitizing my FB friends to raise money, so if you want to save your donation for him, I completely understand as it is harder for him to raise the money given the age of his friend group :). His request will probably come in a few weeks/months.
Thank you all!
