This will be my first of what I hope to be many rides with the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). Initially, my reasoning for signing up for this ride was simple. I wanted to find something that contributed to a good cause that I could train for and push my limits in something I’ve never done in the past. As I learned more about what the ride was really about, my reasons have changed and become much more personal.
This entire organization is committed to contributing enormously to the fight against cancer which is something we can all unfortunately relate to. This ride has taken on a whole new meaning to me. It’s not all about the physical challenge anymore. It’s about fighting for those who can’t fight for themselves. It’s about fighting for those who are fighting for loved ones, and in honor of those who have lost the fight.
Unlike many fundraisers out there, 100% of the proceeds from this ride benefits the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. 100%! I’m very fortunate to have joined a team called team Path to the Cure, many of whom have been riding for 6+ years. Our team in particular will be donating all of our proceeds directly to the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology division. This year, the team as a whole is slated to hit their $1 million mark since it was first created in 2010 and have actually seen their dollars put to use with tangible outcomes in research.
From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate any and all support to reach my personal goal of $4,500 (+++++) and my team's goat of hitting $1,000,000! Thank you!!
