Each year, I ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge with Ted's Unicorns to raise money for cancer research, and I do it in honor of Ted Preston and his family. For me, this ride is more than just miles on a bike—it’s a deeply personal mission. It’s about hope, memory, and the unwavering strength of a family that has faced cancer head-on with courage, grace, and love.
Ted Preston was the kind of person who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether you knew him well or only crossed paths with him once, you felt the warmth, sincerity, and kindness that radiated from him. Ted was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a true friend. Watching Ted and his family navigate such a difficult journey taught me more than I could have ever imagined about strength and compassion. Their love for one another, their resilience in the face of unimaginable hardship, and their commitment to living fully—even as they faced pain—were profoundly moving. They inspired me then, and they continue to inspire me now.
Riding in the PMC gives me a way to honor Ted’s legacy and stand alongside families like his. Every pedal stroke is a tribute to the fight that Ted and so many others have endured. Every mile is a reminder of the urgent need for research, for funding, and for cures. Cancer doesn’t discriminate—it touches people from all walks of life, and it steals far too much. But with every donation, every dollar raised, we push back. We bring hope closer. We give scientists and doctors the tools they need to save lives.
Please consider donating, any contribution, large or small, is greatly appreciated. Every dollar we raise goes directly to support research in the labs of Brian Wolpin, MD, MPH, director of Dana-Farber’s Gastrointestinal Cancer Center and Hale Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Thank you!
