Why I Ride ...
This year will be my first year riding in the PMC, an event where riders come together for the same cause. Riding and fundraising for Cancer Research and Awareness. Every rider has there own reason for riding in this challenge. Some may be battling cancer now, some might be riding for someone who has cancer, and someone may be riding for loved ones they’ve lost to cancer.
The reason I'm riding in the PMC is for my Grandpa. I will be riding in his memory come August. He fought Multiple Myeloma for 12 years. In 2022, his health weakened as the year went on, and in Oct. 2022 he lost his fight. 2022-2023 was my Senior year of high school, and my Grandpa was a huge fan of football. He couldn’t make it too any of my games that year, but I’m sure he was really proud for what I did.
My Grandpa was the strongest and most kind person you'll ever meet. He cared for his family all the time and taught me multiple life lessons. He was a great person and man, but most importantly a great Grandpa.
The Pan-Mass Challenge is a Massachusetts-based bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. Always held the first weekend in August, the PMC raises funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research. All donations to my fundraiser will be going to the Doctors and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for further research in curing cancer.
