Why I Ride ...
This is my first year doing the PMC, and I am so excited to finally be a part of an event I have heard so much about. Everyone at one point or another has their lives touched by cancer; whether it is a family member, friend, or coworker, I am sure anyone reading this has felt the effects of cancer in their life. My siblings had a teacher leave mid school year because of her battle with cancer, my parents saw a friend since middle school battle with breast cancer, and my grandfather has battled with colon cancer. It has impacted my life since before I can remember, and I can go on and on with people I know who have been affected.
Though this is my first year, I have seen the PMC on social media often over the past few years, but the event predates me! The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the US. Since 1980 they have raised $972 million, with the goal of reaching a billion in 2024! Help us not just reach that goal, but surpass it! Any donation, big or small makes a difference in the fight for a cure.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
