Hello Friends!
I just returned from a beautiful, but grueling, training ride and I’m (finally!) inspired to send my 2024 fundraising letter. After 30 hot and humid miles, Woody and I stopped by a local Cape Cod beach to cool down (below). Despite the 88o temp and 87% humidity, it felt terrific knowing my legs (and other parts…) are somewhat closer to being ready for the first weekend in August.
The theme of this year’s ride is “One in a Billion…”. The PMC has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since 1980, positioning us to cross a monumental $1 billion in cumulative fundraising for Dana-Farber in 2024. Once again, I’m shooting to be a Heavy Hitter, one of the PMC's top fundraisers. The 2024 PMC Heavy Hitter fundraising commitment is $10,000, and I’m buckling in to exceed that. (Please let me know if your company might match your donation to multiply your contribution!)
While my motivation to someday stop adding names to the list of those for whom I ride remains steadfast, one of my favorite people had breast cancer surgery yesterday and she is on my mind with every revolution of my pedals. Please let me know if there is someone you would like to honor with your donation to my 32nd year of riding and raising money for this important cause. As always, I’m grateful for a donation of any amount, and also for good wishes and thoughts of support for the researchers, the patients, the caregivers, and the families affected by cancer.
THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for helping me make a difference. Together we will get closer by the mile to a world without cancer, so that the next generation doesn’t have to experience the pain that cancer causes. As we like to say: this is what a bike is meant to do!
With hope and commitment to fund and find a cure…
Love,
Catherine
