I am thrilled to be riding for my third year with the incredible members of Team WillPower. Once again, last year was such an amazing experience and I finished inspired to do it again this year! Like every year, my team will ride in honor of all those we know and love who have been impacted by cancer. In years past, we have dedicated our ride to Kyle Donohue, Tristian Naylor and Mason Allaire. They will remain a huge part of our motivation to ride and dedication to support cancer research. I also ride in memory of those close to me who of have lost their valiant battle with cancer including my Aunt Debbie, my husband's grandfather who was such an inspiration to myself, my husband and my children and for a beloved friend's dad, Shawn Dahlen. I also ride in honor of so many who have overcome or continue to fight with such bravery and strength including my mom, my husband's uncle Ron, my husband’s aunt Christine, friends Ellen, Stephanie, Miela, and Tom, little Libby and 3 year old Billy.
For those of you that supported my ride the past 2 years, you may remember Billy. In April of 2022, Billy was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. In January of last year, bone marrow tests confirmed that Billy's lukemia was coming back fast. Doctors also identified another mutation, making his already rare form of lukemia, even more rare. The rarity of his case received the attention of specialists all over the world. Today, I am so happy to share that Billy is doing fantastic! He is now living with his family in San Francisco and his amazing team of doctors there have helped him to fight, heal and get stronger everyday. His weekly test results continue to be positive and his medical visits will soon be less frequent. If all continues to go well, he will soon be able to start school, which he is very excited about!! He is getting close to the likelihood of a lifelong remission. Research is working. Treatment is working. I have no doubt that the contributions made through events such as Pan-Mass are making an incredible difference in the lives of so many.
PanMass is the world's single most successful athletic fundraiser for cancer research. As the PMC motto says, we are getting Closer by the Mile. But attaining that goal is dependent upon the funding provided by the PMC. Last year alone the PMC donated $75 million to Dana Farber for their research and treatment. In 2024, team WillPower
eclipsed $1.0 Million raised to cure cancer and the PMC passed the career $1 Billion mark! These milestones are comprised of hundreds of thousands of individual donors - donors like each of us. EVERY. DOLLAR. MATTERS. Every donor is a HERO! So YES,absolutely YES, your contributions to our PMC ride matter immensely to all of us.
I hope you will support my ride knowing that the people that touched my life and those who I have never met will benefit so greatly from your generosity. To make a donation to my ride, follow this link https://profile.pmc.org/CC0632. Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
