Welcome all...
This has been my fifth year of riding in the PMC. Both my family and I have cheered alongside my father since I could walk - and I've been a lifetime enthusiast of this great event! It will be truly special to hit a major milestone -- hopefully the first of many!
I personally know friends whose lives have been deeply affected by cancer, and I am riding this year to hopefully create a world where neither they nor anyone will need be afflicted by this unforgiving disease. As my network has grown during my time at college, I have become increasingly aware of both the prevalance and intensity that cancer and similar diseases have in so many families lives. The hope and purpose that the PMC gives to tackle this cause is immense, and I beleive that the good done by Dana Farber will continue to lessen or even eliminate the impact of cancer. The incredible assembly of coordination, determination, and hope made this years' ride an emotional and inspiring journey.
This year has been of particular signifcance to me, not just because it was my 5th ride or due to $1 Billion in fundraising, but also becuase one of my and my father's biggest supporters of the PMC, my grandmother, Elizabeth Wilson or Grammy is no longer with us to celebrate this joyus event. A proud supporter of the Wilson PMC Weekend, both with generous donations but also with encouraging phone calls, Grammy was an avid supporter of my ride. She watched the opening ceremonies on stream every year, and despite not being able to physically attend, she was always in my thoughts during my ride. This year, even more so. Grammy lived her life by always helping those around her, and I aspire to live mine in a similar way.
I have looked up to my father for his dedication to this cause and my grandmother for her wisdom and kindness for many years for doing this ride, as I have to all the heroes who are survivors, volunteers, riders, or family, and I am proud to be a small part of the reason PMC has raised $1 Billion for Dana Farber and give back to a worthy cause in whatever way I can.
Thank you to everyone reading this for supporting me.
