P.S. Unfortunately, I was not able to ride this year. A week prior I was admitted to the hospital with a subdural hematoma, The angiogram results were inconclusive as to why there was a bleed but at least it wasn't in the brain itself. This did leave me in a tizzy in all forms of the term and put me far behind in getting out announcements. My fundraising commitment has not changed just because I could not ride. I really need your help in this historic billion dollar year to reach this $7,500 commitment.
*DONATIONS AFTER SEPTEMBER 30 WILL GO TO THE 2025 RIDE*
Your donation will help the PMC reach 2024’s goal of donating $75 million this year alone to the Jimmy Fund / Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), bringing the PMC's Forty Four Year Total Funds Donated To OVER ONE BILLION DOLLARS!!

As an almost rebuilt Bob (add this year’s right shoulder replacement to 23’s laminectomy decompression of L4-S1, a heart attack during the '22 ride followed by a stent, 1 hip, 6 knee replacements and a cervical fusion of C3-C8), is still going to ride a bicycle 182 miles (or as much as I can) in 2 days to raise funds to find a cure for cancer. I ride to encourage people we know who are dealing with this disease, remember those who lost their battles and celebrate those who have made it through. Considering what those close to me have gone through, this event is a walk in the park for me.
Eugene was an internationally known expert in dangerous chemical and compound materials. Knowing this I enjoyed the irony of his love of hot dogs! Incredibly down to earth, he also had a peculiar sense of humor, so it was easy for us to form a bond. Eugene appreciated things like you don't need a hot water heater or that the word Palindrome is not spelled the same backwards. When I asked his wife Peggy if I could use his image for this year's dedication, she let me know it was fine and she was sure Eugene would be with me for the ride, making sure there was a headwind no matter which way I was going! Eugene will be massively missed.
Having lost many friends, we have had losses in at least 4 levels of my immediate family, including half of my own generation, to this dreaded disease. Chances are you have your own list but no one should have to suffer through this. Pictures I will be wearing on my jersey include: my mother Doris (colon cancer), her mother Mae, Mae's father Jacob, my wife's identical twin Rita (breast cancer), my cousins Vicki (various types over 40 years) & Dave (brain cancer), my sister Marcy (colon cancer), Marcy's husband Kim (prostate cancer), and Lyn, my closest friend of 45 years, who beat jaw and tongue cancers but lost her battle to throat cancer.
Cousin Dave Mittelman got me riding in 2016. Dave was one of Team Lizard's founders and rode in the event for 28 years until we lost him in 2017 to this dreaded disease. It is an honor to continue supporting PMC with Dave's wife and their 3 adult children and significant others. Cousin Vicki's son is also riding and her daughter is offering support as a behind the scene volunteer.
Please donate to remember, honor, encourage the people you know affected by this dreaded disease.
