Dear Friends,
I am thrilled to report that I’ll be riding again in the “Pan-Mass Challenge this coming weekend (Aug 1st and 2nd)!
Like so much else in our world, the PMC ride as we know it won’t be happening. It would be impossible to socially distance 6,000 riders for the two-day, 192- mile event that crosses Massachusetts.
But cancer doesn’t pause for Covid-19, and the ongoing research continues to need funding. PMC has raised more than $717 million since the first bike-a-thon in 1980. Every single penny of rider-raised revenue goes directly to supporting the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
This year, PMC riders are finding all sorts of ways to keep their own commitment to this vitally important cause. Several of my Pook’s Pedalers teammates have decided to ride a century (100 miles) in western Massachusetts on one of the days of the PMC weekend with Friends and family cheering them on along the way with food and cold drinks.
My friend Bill and I will be riding for two days, July 31 and Aug. 1, from Lincoln, Mass. to Provincetown, Mass., a 180-mile route. We will be wearing our 2020 PMC shirts and socks of course. I am dedicating this year’s ride to my dear cousin Louis - a warm, generous, and thoughtful man who lost his battle to prostate cancer this past summer.
We are all aware of the many causes right now that are compelling and urgent. I am extremely grateful for any donations as any amount helps.
Together we can make a difference!
Be Safe and Thank you, Bernard
